Pakistan cricket team touring Australia without a doctor

Visa and passport complications have resulted in the absence of a team doctor for the national senior team in Australia and left the under-19 side in the UAE without a team manager.

Sohail Saleem, appointed as the official team doctor for the series in Australia and New Zealand, has not yet joined the team due to these issues.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board is still trying to get a visa for Dr Saleem and as soon as it comes he will join the side in Australia in time for the first Test in Perth,” a reliable source in the Pakistan Cricket Board told PTI.

Likewise, the former Test batsman Shoaib Muhammad, designated as the manager of the Pakistan junior side participating in the Asia Cup in the UAE, has faced difficulties in departing with the squad, according to the source.

"Shoaib had some expired passport issues which the board is sorting out and hopefully he will also soon reach UAE to take charge,” the source said.

Sajid Khan, the off-spinner slated to take the place of Abrar Ahmed in the Pakistan squad in Australia, is also experiencing a delay in his departure owing to visa complications.

The source emphasized that the board should ensure the timely departure of appointed officials with their respective teams before officially naming them in any touring squad.
