Pakistan beat Ireland to seal ODI series whitewash

Pakistan beat Ireland by five wickets to seal a 3-0 whitewash in their One-Day International series.

Ghulam Fatima took five for 34 as Pakistan picked up the win.

Ireland won the toss and elected to bat first. They posted a total of 225 all out from 49.5 overs in Lahore, with Arlene Kelly dismissed from the penultimate ball of the innings.

Openers Leah Paul and Gaby Lewis enjoyed a stand of 84 before Lewis became the first of Fatima’s five victims, with Paul going on to top score with 65 from 94 balls before being stumped off the bowling of Umme Hani.

Ireland reached 202 for four in the 44th over but then lost their last six wickets for just 23 runs and Pakistan overcame the loss of two early wickets to reach their victory target with 17 balls remaining.

Sadaf Shamas top scored with 72 from 80 balls and put on 124 for the third wicket with captain Bismah Maroof (57 from 70).
