Pak melody queen Nayyara Noor, adored by millions on both sides of the border, no more

BATHINDA: India born melody queen of Pakistan Nayyara Noor passed away in the wee hours of Sunday at Karachi in Pakistan. She was 71. Having got the title of Bulbul-e-Pakistan, Nayyara Noor had sang poems of legendary poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz apart from many known Ghazals.

Born at Guwahati in India on November 3, 1950 she had migrated to Pakistan in 1957. It was at Lahore that Prof Asrar Ahmad spotted her talent and inspired her to sing. Eminent playback singer, Noor had first sung for film Gharana in 1973 and never looked back.
