Paisley woman's dog stolen while she had heart attack in the street

By Marc McLean

A Paisley woman whose dog was stolen while she had a heart attack in the street insisted she’ll be out hunting for her pooch as soon as she’s fit and well again.

Kat Conway, from Foxbar, was discharged from hospital just a few days ago and is now recuperating at home.

But the 50-year-old’s physical health issues have been compounded by the emotional pain of losing her Shih-Poo pet Jessie.

Kat said: “I won’t give up on finding her.

“I’ve been on the phone to the police constantly and have been in contact regularly with dog wardens, and people who have set up a Facebook page to help find Jessie.

“As soon as I’m feeling well enough again, I’ll be travelling down south to see what else I can do.”

Kat had been in central London after visiting her daughter Erin on her birthday.

She was walking with Jessie along Euston Road, near the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, at 2pm on Monday, June 6, when she collapsed on the pavement.

Paramedics arrived to take Kat to hospital, but would not allow the six-year-old dog in the back of the ambulance.

Kat recalled a man with blonde curly hair and about 5’7’ tall at the scene. He initially came to offer her help, but then took her light-coloured dog and has not been heard from since.

“He’s not been seen or heard from since,” said Kat.

“Police are looking for him.

“I’m devastated all this happened. I was on my way home and was just a few steps away from the train station.

“I’m now phoning every dog warden, every council, every vets in the hope of finding my dog.”

A Facebook group called ‘Find Wee Jessie and Bring Her Home – NW1’ (London postcode) was set up on Tuesday and more than 1,000 people joined within the first 24 hours.

They have made digital posters, which are being shared widely online, and are urging any witnesses to the incident or people with information on Jessie’s whereabouts to get in touch.

While it may seem like a long shot for Jessie to be found in London, the dog is microchipped with Petlog and is marked as missing on its website.

The first poster on the Facebook group was shared 2,100 times on the social media platform. On Twitter, the hashtag #findjessie is being used to spread the word.
