Paisley thug arrested on Christmas after breaching bail by visiting pals

A young Paisley man was arrested on Christmas night when cops found him celebrating with friends.

Liam Donnelly, 20, admitted at the town’s court he breached his bail order by being outside of his home after 7pm on Christmas Eve and Christmas night.

Procurator fiscal depute Maria Murdoch told Paisley Sheriff Court: “On December 20, last year, the accused was placed on bail with a curfew condition keeping him within his home address between 7pm and 7am each night.

“On December 24, police attended the accused’s home address at 7.50pm where a witness advised the accused had left.

“Police carried out a search of the property and concluded the accused wasn’t within.

“Around 11.30pm on December 25, police were contacted regarding a separate matter to attend at a Paisley property.

“They were allowed entry and the accused was standing in the hall screaming and shouting.

“He was shouting ‘get f*****g out of here, you’ve not got a f*****g warrant. If you don’t leave I’ll f*****g put you out myself f*****g c***s.’

“Police advised Donnelly of his curfew and informed him he was under arrest.

“Whilst police where arresting him, he began banging his head on the floor and kicking his legs in an attempt to kick police officers.

“A celled van was required to attend and once the accused was placed inside, he continued to bang his head in the wall.

“He was taken to Govan police station where he was processed in the usual manner but not cautioned and charged at the time due to his manner and intoxication.

“For clarity, police were contacted on December 25 for another matter and the accused was within that address after his curfew hours.”

Defence agent Kirsty McGeehan told the court that Donnelly had been celebrating Christmas at his mum’s house with the complainer.

Ms McGeehan said: “Donnelly was at his mother’s house on Christmas Day with Ms Russell when Mr Donnelly’s mother asked her to leave due to her conduct.

“Ms Russell left and Mr Donnelly went with her.

“They were at a friend’s house on Christmas night.”

On sentencing, Sheriff Bruce Erroch QC said: “I’ll disregard the language that you used to police officers as it’s not detailed in the charge.”

Donelly was placed under supervision for one year and was ordered to attend a review hearing set for April 7.
