A teenage boy is said to have run into his grandparents burning home to save their dogs after noticing the blaze on his way home from school.
The schoolboy called emergency services before reaching into the flames at the Paisley home to get the beloved family pets out safe, his shocked mum has said.
His mum Lisa Cummings shared the ordeal online and told how her elderly parents were on holiday at the time their home of 17 years caught fire. She said they have been left "completely broken" by the nightmare, reports the Daily Record.

She wrote: "My mum and dad were away on holiday and my son came out of school to find their house ablaze.
"He called me and 999 and against all orders he ran into the burning building to save his nana and granddad's two dogs who were trapped inside, almost killing himself in the process as the fire had already ripped through the entire house."
Lisa went on to explain that her dad is due to retire this year, but the devastating blaze means he will need to continue working as the couple has lost all of their possessions.
She added: "My parents have worked so hard their whole lives to have the home they did. My dad was due to retire in July and now that they have lost everything they own that is no longer possible.
"They have always been the ones in the position to help other people financially and have always done whatever they can to help anyone in their hour of need, so they are really struggling to now be on the receiving end of that."
Lisa then shared devastating footage showing the aftermath of the fire and could be heard sobbing as she walked through what is left of the home.
Fire damage has destroyed the roof of the property, with the interior badly burnt and charred. Debris can be seen lying in all of the rooms and water can be heard pouring from burst pipes.
Insulation lies littered across the ground in much of the property, including the living room.
As the clip continues, the rooms inside the house are shown to be in a similar state, badly damaged with burnt debris scatted around. The kitchen has been badly hit by the blaze, with everything inside destroyed by the fire.
Lisa continued: "Over the past few days we have had to have some raw and difficult conversations about the harsh reality of the position my parents have now found themselves in."
Lisa has now set up a fundraising page to help her parents with the costs of rebuilding their home.
Donations can be made to the fundraising page here.
