Paisley man will be holding fundraising event at Kennedys Bar for British Heart Foundation

Buddies will need to save a date in their diary for a fabulous fundraising gig that will use live music to back a great cause.

The event has been organised by Paisley music promoter Hugh Stevenson, his family and friends at Kennedys Bar in Causeyside Street on Sunday, September 25 and will start at 2pm.

The gig will raise money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) after Hugh was diagnosed with heart problems.

The BHF is a research charity that funds medical research related to heart circulatory diseases and through other work, they also raise awareness of heart-related medical issues.

Paisley man Hugh, 60, said: “I have dilated cardiomyopathy and I have had a lot of help with it and the heart wards have been very good to me.

"Some of my friends have kids that have heart problems and they too have had a lot of care. They just want to give something back and help the British Heart Foundation.

“Family and friends are also wanting to help out. They are the people that know what is involved with having heart issues and they know exactly what the British Heart Foundation is all about. What they do is absolutely amazing.”

The fundraising event is the first one to be held since the covid pandemic and has raised more than £12,000 so far for the charity.

There will be a raffle and five live bands playing over an hour each to keep the atmosphere lively and full of fun.

This year’s band lineup includes Canyon, Trunk Monkey, Sad Ida, The Black Triangles and Wreckless.

Hugh, and those who are also helping set up the event, want others to understand the hard work that the charity does to support those with heart problems.

He added: “Everything that you get now - including operations and everything to do with that - such as your new valves, your stents and bypasses, it is the British Heart Foundation that sorts that out.

“It is amazing, they are saving lives. They also save babies as well, everyone is helped and included.”

Entry to the fundraising event is £5. Just turn up on the night.
