Paisley education service Kibble gets top marks from inspectors

An education and care service in Paisley has received a glowing inspection report.

Kibble Education and Care Services were visited by a team of inspectors from Education Scotland in February.

During their visit, the inspectors spoke with parents/carers, children and young people, and worked closely with the head teachers and other members of staff.

Subsequently publishing its evaluations of the school, the watchdog rated the service as being “very good” in all areas.

The areas were learning, teaching and assessments, and raising attainment and achievement. It also highlighted several strengths in the school’s work.

These were the school has a nurturing culture and children and young people have very positive relationships with staff, while inspectors also said the school has effective approaches to assess youngsters’ learning needs upon arrival and the broad and balanced curriculum centres around the pupils’ needs, interests, and aspirations.

The watchdog also highlighted the education and care service’s “high quality” approaches to support young people to develop employability skills and pupils’ attainment in numeracy and mathematics.

While the inspection report was great overall, the service was recommended one area for improvement, which was discussed with the head teachers and Board of Governors.

This was that staff should ensure they maintain high expectations for all children and young people’s learning – and they should continue to identify ways to support all youngsters to attend education and engage purposefully with their learning.

Education Scotland said: “We are confident that the school has the capacity to continue to improve and so we will make no more visits in connection with this inspection.

“The Board of Governors will inform parents/carers about the school’s progress as part of its arrangement for reporting on the quality of its schools.”

Jim Gillespie, chief executive officer of Kibble, added: “We are immensely proud of the Education Scotland report published after a recent inspection of Kibble Education and Care.

“Our education services are a key pillar of the organisation, playing a vital role in supporting children and young people’s development and wellbeing throughout their time with Kibble.

“This report is a testament to the dedication, passion and talent of Kibble’s teaching and support staff, who work day in and day out to ensure that their pupils are given the best possible standard of education and every possible opportunity to thrive both at and once they leave the support of Kibble.”
