A Paisley dad called his wife a “fat smelly cow” after spending the day drinking alcohol.
John Houton, 45, spent a Saturday afternoon drinking last month before going on to verbally abuse his spouse and repeatedly kick a glass door and bang a kitchen window at their property in Alice Street.
Paisley Sheriff Court heard that Houton and his wife Maria had been in a relationship for ten years, married for six and have three children together.
The procurator fiscal depute told the court: “On Saturday, March 12 the accused had spent the day consuming alcohol.
“Around 8.30pm he returned home when Maria Houton noticed he was under the influence of alcohol and she challenged him due to his level of intoxication.
“The accused became hostile and a verbal argument took place with the accused becoming verbally abusive calling Maria a ‘fat smelly cow.’
“She asked the accused to leave and he did - with the family dog.
“He returned around 10pm and made attempts to gain access to the house with his key.
“Maria contacted a friend to attend, and they did. While en route, the friend saw the accused nearby with a dog, and he re-attended at the property.
“He began shouting, swearing and demanding entry, which was refused. Houton then forcibly kicked the glass door to try gain entry and, as a result, police were contacted.
“He then began banging the kitchen window and he was again asked to leave which he refused to do so and returned to kick the front door.
“Around 11.35pm police attended and traced the accused nearby shouting in the street walking away from the property with the family dog.
“Police asked Houton to stop and he immediately became hostile, shouting 'F**k off,’ and stating, ‘I’ll rip the face off them.’
“He was arrested, cautioned and charged where he made no reply.”
