Paisley brute threw table at ex-partner and smashed her head off a fridge

A violent Paisley man ran at his ex-partner with a saw after throwing a table at her.

Vicious Alan Wilson, 41, let himself into his former partner’s home in Linwood’s Wilson Avenue before going on to smash her head off of a fridge and kick her while she lay on the ground.

Procurator fiscal depute Alison McFadyen told Paisley Sheriff Court earlier today that the pair had been in an on/off relationship for six years and he was made subject to a non-harassment order in 2019 that prevents him from approaching or contacting her.

Speaking in relation to the incident on July 6 last year, Ms McFadyen explained: “The accused’s former partner was at home with her 12-year-old son when she heard her front door open around 1pm.

“She walked into the living room and found the accused on the couch and she asked him what he was doing.

“She was unable to decipher his reply due to his intoxication.

“An argument began because of this.

“Wilson then ran towards her and grabbed her hair and punched the right side of her face and threw her to the ground.

“The complainer tried to protect herself by pulling her knees into her chest.

“At this point, the accused walked over to the other side of the room and picked up a small table and threw it at her but it missed her and struck the wall.

“He then walked back over and started kicking her while she was on the ground and then he left the property.”

The court heard the battered woman then called her manager as a confidant, and bully Wilson re-entered the property.

Ms McFadyen added: “He then grabbed her by the hair and struck her head off the fridge and a wall.

“At this time she observed her son in the hall and gestured to him to go back upstairs to his room.

“Wilson then went to the garden and emerged from the shed with a saw in his hand.

“The complainer asked him to get away and he then ran towards her, brandishing the saw.

“Out of fear, the complainer recorded this on her phone and eventually was able to close the door and lock it before she contacted the police.

“Police arrived and took a summary of events.

“Wilson was in the front garden at this point. He was approached and arrested and taken to Greenock police station and held in custody to appear at court.”

Wilson admitted assault and breaching a non-harassment order, and his defence solicitor Anthony Callaghan said reports would be necessary.

Sheriff Gillian Craig deferred sentence for the preparation of a criminal justice social work report and a restriction of liberty order assessment until July 4. Wilson’s bail was continued.
