Two thugs have been jailed after a mechanic was kidnapped from a pub and viciously attacked with a claw hammer and machete.
Kenneth Ingham and Stephen Cardella found the victim drinking in a bar in Walbottle and escorted him outside before bundling him into the back of a car. A court heard that the male was then taken to an alleyway nearby, where Ingham armed himself with the weapons.
Prosecutors said that Ingham demanded money that the victim owed him for cocaine before striking him with the hammer and slicing his arm with the machete. After a "few minutes", Ingham then dragged the male out of the vehicle and dumped him on the side of the road while he and Cardella drove off.
