Two men accused of breaking into a home at Macquarie Hills in the early hours of Monday morning and stabbing one of the residents in the shoulder have been refused bail.
Gak Manyang Boc, 27, and Timothy Nayaloga, 28, were both represented by solicitor Alison Nowland when their matters were mentioned briefly in Belmont Local Court on Tuesday.
The two men did not apply for bail or enter pleas to charges of entering a building with intent to commit an indictable offence and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company.
Mr Boc's matter was adjourned until Wednesday, while Mr Nayaloga will remain behind bars until his matter returns to court later this month.
Police said two men entered the home at Macquarie Hills about 3.30am on Monday and allegedly used a knife to attack a 35-year-old man and 34-year-old woman inside.
The men left the scene before police arrived.
The 35-year-old man suffered a stab wound to his shoulder and was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The 34-year-old woman suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene.
Lake Macquarie detectives established a crime scene and launched an investigation, arresting Mr Boc and Mr Nayaloga on Monday.
The pair were taken to Toronto police station, charged and refused bail.
