A 53-year-old man with pain on the right side of his scrotum had a finding urologists rarely encounter: a row of firm, painful nodules strung along the vas deferens like beads on a rosary. The pattern mimicked a mass beside the testicle, the kind of finding that can raise concern for a tumor. Surgery showed the beads were enlarged, clot-filled blood vessels studded with calcium.
Urologists at hospitals in Trabzon and Ordu, Türkiye, described the case in Urology Case Reports, in a report published in July 2026. The authors write that a painful, rosary-like process of this kind, confirmed by this tissue pattern, "appears exceptionally rare."
