A paedophile who sexually abused six children in the "most appalling depravity" died less than a year into his sentence.
Amos Matthews, from Widnes but previously living on a caravan park at Kinmel Bay in North Wales, was jailed back in May 2021 for 21 years for sexually abusing children. The 82-year-old started abusing children in his mid 50s and only stopped a couple of years previously, a court heard.
He faced 19 charges, including rape and sexual assault, and was sentenced for more than two decades when he appeared before Mold Crown Court. A report released into his death found he did not get a lesser level of care than would be expected outside prison, reports North Wales Live.
