Padraig Harrington rolled back the years to share the lead of the Texas Open after the first round.
The veteran shot a round of 68 to finish level with Matt Kuchar and end the day as joint clubhouse leader.
Harrington's round began unspectacularly with three pars and a bogey from his first four holes. He then embarked upon an impressive scoring streak with birdies on four of the next six to leave him just two shots off the lead. He then bogeyed the 11th before a par on 12 and consecutive birdies on 13 and 14. He then parred the next four to share the overall lead.

Kuchar ended his round with two bogeys and three pars from his last five to bump him up level with Harrington.
Elsewhere in the field Dublin's David Carey suffered a miserable first nine holes that included both a double and triple bogey. He was midway through his round and tied for 101st as Harrington entered the clubhouse.
Harrington will fancy his chances of keeping his nose out infront when his second round starts tomorrow. His round of 68 is the lowest he's hit in a PGA Tour event since he turned 50 back in 2021.
