"Paul let me stand in for him on his chat show over 15 years ago and he’d been supportive, kind and welcoming ever since. To think I’ll never see him in person again is very upsetting."
Paddy was emotional as he detailed how Paul reminded him of his close family members. He said: "In a funny way he always reminded me of my mum and auntie with his old school warmth and wit. The world has lost one of the good ones. Rest in peace Paul, you lovely, lovely man. X"
Fans flooded the comments to pay tribute to Paul's memory.
Jayne commented: "He never failed to put a smile on my face..even through the tears watching for the love of dogs...such a generous man with a huge heart"
Claire posted: "I'm gutted to hear this, he ALWAYS put a smile on my face and the kindness he showed to animals proved what a lovely human he was."
Alison said: "Very sad, I bet Paul was just as he was on tv, a down to earth lovely soul rip Paul"
