Paddy McGuinness allegedly 'sent messages' to TV star before marriage split

Paddy McGuinness made the announcement this week that he had split from his wife, Christine, after 11 years of marriage.

However, it has been alleged that the relationship broke down after Christine found messages on his social media to another TV star, reports the Mirror. Since the couple's joint statement announcing their break-up earlier this week, there have been claims that Paddy and Christine had been separated for some time.

And the reasoning behind this was the alleged message discovery Christine made in March 2022. Sources have said that the messages went no further than a friendship, but Christine was upset after she found out.

It's claimed that the pair decided to separate shortly afterwards, before making the news public this week.

A source told the Mail on Sunday earlier today: "Paddy had been messaging the woman for some time.

"They were direct messages and were quite friendly. It's unclear how they met but they followed one another for a while.

"There had been various issues between him and Christine, but this was definitely one of the driving forces that began to make them assess their future as a married couple."

Earlier this month, Christine had admitted to The Sun on Sunday that her marriage was on the rocks, but she "didn't cause the situation." In the interview, she said: "I will just say that I didn't cause this situation.

"You've got to expect it when you've been together for so long. Everyone grows and changes and we've grown as a family, which is amazing.

"That family bond will always be there no matter what."

The pair had been together for over a decade, and currently have three children together. This week, the influencer and her TV presenter husband issued a joint Instagram statement announcing their marriage was over.

The statement read: "We hadn’t planned on sharing this publicly until we were ready but after the lack of privacy surrounding our personal life, we feel left with no other option but to clarify.

"A while ago we took the difficult decision to separate but our main focus as always is to continue loving and supporting our children. This was not an easy decision to make but we’re moving forward as the best parents we can be for our three beautiful children.

"We’ll always be a loving family, we still have a great relationship and still live happily in our family home together. We hope this now draws a line under any more unwanted and unnecessary intrusion into our private life.

"Although we work in the public eye we ask kindly if you could respect our wishes for privacy on this matter. We’ll be making no further comments. Loads of love. Paddy & Christine."

This was the most recent statement made by either party on the situation.
