Tipperary boss Liam Cahill has been hit with a triple injury blow, including news that Paddy Cadell is out for the season.
Tipp scored their first victory over Kilkenny at UPMC Nowlan Park in 15 years last Sunday but it came at a significant cost with Cadell suffering what has been described as a “pivot shift injury to his left knee”, resulting in a cruciate ligament tear which means that he certainly won’t play for the county again this year and will most likely be ruled out of all club action with JK Brackens too.
Experienced defender Cathal Barrett also went off injured in the same game though the prognosis is not nearly as bleak.

However, he still faces a lengthy spell on the sideline as a result of a fracture to his scapula which will require him to wear a sling for the next three weeks, though it will be 10-12 weeks before he is in a position to return to full training.
In that event, Tipp’s Munster Championship campaign, which starts with a trip to face Clare in Ennis on April 23, will be well underway by the time he returns to full fitness.
Elsewhere, forward Niall O’Meara will be out for up to seven weeks due to a groin injury picked up in training recently.
Tipperary have made an encouraging start under Cahill’s management having opened the League with wins over Laois and Kilkenny. Their next outing in Division 1B will be against Dublin at Croke Park on Saturday week.
