After a week away from teammates and a team-imposed one-game suspension, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs has stepped up in a big way over the last two games.
In wins over the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans, Doubs caught 11 of 14 targets for 143 yards, nine first downs and two touchdowns. He leads the team in all five categories — catches, targets, receiving yards, first downs and receiving touchdowns — between Weeks 6 and 7.
Against the Cardinals, Doubs caught a pair of touchdown passes from Jordan Love on third down. This past Sunday, he hauled in a team-high eight passes for 94 yards, including a pair of catches on the game-winning drive.
Doubs ranks sixth in catches and 12th in receiving yards among receivers over the last two weeks. He’s averaging 2.32 yards per route run and has six contested catches, the most among all players since Week 6.
Love’s passer rating when targeting Doubs over the last two weeks is 149.1.
Here’s how Doubs started Sunday’s win over the Texans — with a 23-yard catch on the game’s first play from scrimmage:
Understandably, concern existed over chemistry — both between quarterback and receiver and within the receiver room — following a suspension. But Doubs has returned and immediately re-established himself as a trusted target for Love, and he’s played a big role in back-to-back wins.
