Packers without rookie WR Jayden Reed vs. Panthers

Green Bay Packers rookie receiver Jayden Reed is inactive against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday due to toe and chest injuries. Reed, a second-round pick in the 2023 draft, will miss his first career game.

Reed joins Christian Watson as the two starting receivers for the Packers who are inactive against the Panthers. Jordan Love and Matt LaFleur will roll with Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks, Malik Heath, Samori Toure and Bo Melton at receiver on Sunday.

Reed leads the team with 54 catches and eight total touchdowns in 2023.

The Packers do have cornerback Jaire Alexander and running back A.J. Dillon available. Alexander is returning after missing six games with a shoulder injury, while Dillon missed last week with a broken thumb. Both were questionable to play.

Defensive lineman T.J. Slaton is also active and will play through a knee injury.

Other inactives include cornerback Robert Rochell and offensive tackle Caleb Jones, who both dealt with injuries during the week, and rookie edge rusher Brenton Cox Jr, a healthy scratch.

The Packers’ inactives:

WR Christian Watson
WR Jayden Reed
S Darnell Savage
LB De’Vondre Campbell
OLB Brenton Cox Jr.
CB Robert Rochell
OT Caleb Jones

The Packers need to win in Carolina to keep their playoff hopes alive over the final two games. It’s possible Reed, Watson and even tight end Luke Musgrave could be available for the Packers come next Sunday night in Minnesota, but beating the Panthers while shorthanded at receiver is the task at hand in Week 16.
