The second day of practice in pads is Tuesday for the Green Bay Packers. Expect more intensity and more attention to detail for Matt LaFleur’s team.
So, what will Day 6 bring at Ray Nitschke Field?
Here’s everything to know from Tuesday, Aug. 1, the sixth training camp practice of 2023:
What to know from Matt LaFleur's pre-practice press conference
— LaFleur says Peyton Manning addressed the team on Monday. “I thought it was super beneficial.” The Hall of Fame quarterback was in Green Bay to see practice.
— No concern on David Bakhtiari, who didn’t practice Monday. Still going with modified practice schedule, expecting to practice at Family Night.
— On Carrington Valentine: Very athletic, made flash plays, taking coaching. “I think we have a good young player there.” Wants to see him in joint practices and the preseason. “Has a great attitude, he’s very, very talented.”
Practice news, updates
— The Packers are signing offensive lineman Cole Schneider, who was with the team during last year’s training camp. He played in the USFL recently.
— The Packers are also releasing rookie tight end Camren McDonald and rookie guard Chuck Filiga. Also signed was receiver/tight end Andre Miller.
— Zach Tom was getting first-team reps at center.
— Take a look at this crazy catch from Romeo Doubs against Jaire Alexander in 1-on-1s.
— Good day for Sean Rhyan during 1-on-1s, or a very bad day for Colby Wooden.
— More impressive flashes from Devonte Wyatt.
— Anders Carlson starts 2-for-3 on field goals, and then finished 4-for-6. During the competitive periods, Carlson made 1-of-2 “game-winners.”
— A long touchdown from Danny Etling to Bo Melton.
— The defense won the competitive period once again. They are 6-for-6.
Injury updates
— David Bakhtiari is in full pads and prepared to practice Tuesday.
— Center Jake Hanson has an elbow injury and isn’t practicing Tuesday, which is likely why the Packers added more depth inside.
— Josiah Deguara and David Bakhtiari appeared to drop out of practice, per Rob Demovsky. Tyler Goodson returned after an injury.
