Just when the Carolina Panthers got their practice squad back to a full 16 players, another man has been poached.
As announced on Wednesday, the Green Bay Packers have signed cornerback Robert Rochell away from the Panthers’ practice squad and onto their active roster. This is the second player who has been signed off of Carolina’s squad this week, as running back Jashaun Corbin returned to the New York Giants on Monday.
Rochell joined the Panthers back on Sept. 20, along with linebacker Deion Jones. He had not appeared in a game for the team during his month-long stint.
Prior to his stop in Charlotte, Rochell was a fourth-round pick of the Los Angeles Rams out of the University of Central Arkansas in 2021. He’d spend some time there with current Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero and secondary/cornerbacks coach Jonathan Cooley, both of whom served under head coach Sean McVay.
The Panthers, who signed quarterback Jake Luton and tight end Jordan Matthews to their practice squad this morning, now have one open spot in the group.
