Packers season awards: Final miscellaneous awards for 2024

The Green Bay Packers survived an early-season injury to Jordan Love, won seven of eight games after a 2-2 start and clinched a playoff berth at 11-4 but then limped into the postseason, losing back-to-back games to division rivals before falling 22-10 to the Philadelphia Eagles to open the playoffs as the NFC’s No. 7 seed.

While the Packers won more regular season games and improved in almost every meaningful statistical category, the disappointing finish — featuring three straight losses — greatly tarnished the second year of the Love era and left the Packers stuck somewhere between “good” and “great” entering the 2025 offseason.

Last year, an inspired second-half run and a near upset of the San Francisco 49ers in the playoffs sent the Packers to the offseason with incredible optimism. The feeling is much different a year later, and Matt LaFleur’s team must now use disappointment — instead of optimism and potential — to fuel improvement in 2025.

The Packers swept the NFC West and AFC South but finished 0-6 against the Eagles, Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions. This was a good team that consistently failed to play well enough in big games to beat a great team.

It was a bumpy ride. Now it’s time to hand out some awards for the 2024 season, finishing today with other miscellaneous awards:

Packers season awards: MVPs
Packers season awards: Breakout players, best rookies

Best game: Win in Seattle

The Packers all but clinched a playoff spot with a dominant win over the Seahawks in primetime. Matt LaFleur’s team scored touchdowns on back-to-back drives to open the game, Carrington Valentine intercepted Geno Smith in the end zone to prevent points and the Packers led 20-3 at halftime. Rookie Edgerrin Cooper was a dominant player, and a late touchdown pass from Jordan Love to Romeo Doubs on third down sealed the deal late. The Packers outgained the Seahawks by 160 yards, forced two turnovers and produced seven sacks. The win improved the Packers’ record to 10-4.

Best moment: Thanksgiving celebration

The game-winning field goal against the Texans and game-winning blocked field goal in Chicago were considered here. But it’s hard to pass up primetime turkey legs at Lambeau Field. Jordan Love and Josh Jacobs both got a chance to feast following the Packers’ 30-17 win over the Miami Dolphins on Thanksgiving Night. Love completed 21 of 28 passes for 274 yards and two touchdowns, while Jacobs produced 117 total yards, including an incredible individual effort on a 49-yard catch. The Packers got a fourth-down stop inside the 5-yard line to ensure there would be no comeback. The win was the third in a row for Matt LaFleur’s team coming out of the bye.

Assistant coach of the year: Defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley

The Packers defense made incredible progress in Year 1 under Hafley. Green Bay finished in the top 10 in points allowed, yards per play allowed, takeaways and EPA allowed per play. Adding an All-Pro talent like Xavier McKinney helped, but Hafley’s scheme mostly prevented big plays in the passing game and made life difficult in the run game. Lacking a consistent four-man pass-rush, Hafley found ways of creating disruption with blitzes and simulated pressures. The Packers need a lot more from the pass-rush to be a great defense in 2025, but Hafley set a strong foundation in his first season.
