Packers Receiver Turned Heads With Bold Comparison of Aaron Rodgers, Jordan Love

Much has already been said this offseason about the Packers’ anticipated transition from Aaron Rodgers to Jordan Love. But, thanks to Green Bay receiver Romeo Doubs, the conversation once again took center stage on Friday.

Doubs, a fourth-round pick in 2022, offered an eye-opening assessment of what he expects to see in 2023 when asked during a recent interview if he saw a difference in Love ahead of his first season as QB1.

As one of the NFL’s most decorated signal-callers, Rodgers’ blockbuster trade to the Jets left a sizable void in the organization. And, while the circumstances seem challenging, Doubs made it evident that he fully believes in Love’s skillset, although his support may have gone a bit too far as he compared the 24-year-old first-year starter to the 39-year-old future Hall of Famer.

“No, I think Jordan can do it. I think Jordan is a really good quarterback,” Doubs told Spectrum 1's Dennis Krause. “When you go from Aaron Rodgers to Jordan, Aaron was a really great quarterback, but I believe Jordan can do the same exact thing. So I don’t really see what’s the big difference.”

While Doubs’s Love and Rodgers comp may have done enough to both excite and concern Green Bay faithful, the second-year wideout didn’t stop there when looking ahead to the future. When asked to comment on projections of a Green Bay drop-off without Rodgers, Doubs doubled down on his belief in Love and the roster, saying he only sees “a progression” from here on out.

“I see it going up. I don’t see the Packers going down,” he said. “I only focus on our room and our team in this organization. This organization is historic, and it’s only winning. That’s all. When you hear Green Bay, it’s no losing, it’s only winning.”

Call it young ambition or excitement over the new season, but Doubs’s remarks, whether he realized it or not, could make for a worthwhile “freezing cold take” should Love struggle under center in 2023.

Of course, considering that the ’23 campaign will be Love’s first in the spotlight, it would behoove Packers fans to temper all expectations entering the fall.
