Packers PFF grades: Best, worst players from preseason finale win over Ravens

Four turnovers forced, including three from roster bubble players Arron Mosby and Kristian Welch, helped the Green Bay Packers cruise past the Baltimore Ravens in the preseason finale on Saturday at Lambeau Field.

Matt LaFleur’s team was able to overcome subpar quarterback play and won convincingly, 30-7.

Based on grades from Pro Football Focus, here are the best and worst players from the Packers’ preseason win over the Ravens:

Top 5 offense

1. WR Malik Heath: 82.4
2. RB Nate McCrary: 81.7
3. OT Caleb Jones: 78.8
4. OT Travis Glover: 76.5
5. TE Henry Pearson: 75.9

Heath caught four of his five targets, including a contested catch for a touchdown, and all four of his catches resulted in first downs or scores. McCrary gained 43 yards after contact, forced three missed tackles and created two runs over 15 yards. Jones was solid in the run game and didn’t allow a pressure over nine pass-blocking snaps. Telfort didn’t give up a pressure over 18 pass-blocking snaps at left tackle. Pearson caught one pass for four yards and earned the team’s highest run-blocking grade overall.

Top 5 defense

1. LB Kristian Welch: 94.3
2. DE Arron Mosby: 92.0
3. LB Chris Russell Jr.: 90.3
4. CB Gemon Green: 81.1
5. CB Kalen King: 80.8

Welch produced three stops and defended two passes, including an interception, earning an elite pass coverage grade. Mosby had a strip sack and an interception over 17 snaps. Russell had two tackles without a miss and was solid in coverage, giving up only two catches for 10 yards. Green had two stops and gave up just one catch for nine yards over 25 coverage snaps. King forced a fumble, produced three total stops and allowed only 13 receiving yards on five passes thrown into his coverage.

Bottom 5 offense

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

1. QB Michael Pratt: 42.0
2. QB Sean Clifford: 42.7
3. WR Grant DuBose: 45.8
4. TE Joel Wilson: 46.4
5. TE Messiah Swinson: 50.9

Pratt had a big-time throw but also threw an interception during a disappointing second half. He completed just one passes thrown over 10 yards — the touchdown to Bo Melton. Clifford didn’t have a completion under pressure and also had a turnover-worthy play. DuBose didn’t have a catch on one target while running 17 routes and earned the team’s lowest run-blocking grade. Wilson dropped a pass. Swinson earned poor run-blocking grades.

Bottom 5 defense

1. LB Ralen Goforth: 41.4
2. CB LJ Davis: 41.8
3. S Benny Sapp III: 43.5
4. S Kitan Oladapo: 48.0
5. DL Keonte Schad: 50.3

Goforth missed a tackle and earned a low run defense grade before leaving with an injury. Davis earned the defense’s lowest pass coverage. Sapp missed two tackles. Oladapo was below average against the run. Schad had one stop but struggled against the run.

Special teams

Henry Pearson had a pair of special teams tackles but also missed one. Emanuel Wilson, Gemon Green and Kristian Welch also had tackles. The Packers missed five special teams tackles, including one from Pearson, Kalen King and Benny Sapp III. Daniel Whelan put one punt inside the 20-yard line, and Anders Carlson missed a field goal from 32 yards.

Quarterback play

Sean Clifford: 42.7
Michael Pratt: 42.0

Both quarterbacks had a turnover-worthy play, and they combined to complete 53.8 percent of their passes and average 5.1 yards per attempt. Clifford really struggled against pressure, completing 0-for-5 passes and scrambling once on six pressured dropbacks. The lone big-time throw was Pratt’s touchdown pass to Bo Melton.

Stat to know

Packers running backs gained 125 yards after first contract, forced seven missed tackles and averaged 3.21 yards after contact. Nate McCrary, Ellis Merriweather and Emanuel Wilson combined for six runs over 10 yards and 10 runs gaining first downs.
