The Packers’ 27—19 win over the Chiefs was mired in controversy after a number of questionable decisions were made by the officiating crew in the final minute of action at Lambeau Field on Sunday night.
One of the plays in question, a deep pass from Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes to wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling that was broken up by Packers cornerback Carrington Valentine, drew the ire of fans.
Valentine, who was draped over Valdes-Scantling in tight coverage, clearly made contact with the Chiefs receiver before the ball arrived, leaving fans—and even NBC commentator Cris Collinsworth—wondering where the flag was on the play.
But don’t ask Valentine that question.

Reporters sought out Valentine’s thoughts on the play after the game, but the Packers defensive back feigned confusion, telling Matt Schneidman of The Athletic that he “didn’t know what PI” he was talking about. Valentine added that he didn’t see a flag on the field, so there was no malfeasance in his mind.
The Packers defender is essentially saying officials called what they called—and that’s that, a sentiment that was even echoed by Mahomes, who said he was “about” the officials letting the players play at the end of games.
Although Packers and Chiefs fans are likely to disagree about whether or not it was pass interference, it seems as if the players—especially Valentine—have a short memory as far as the play is concerned.
