Packers CB Jaire Alexander misses final practice before matchup with Justin Jefferson

Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander wasn’t available for practice on Friday, the final practice before facing Justin Jefferson and the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, per Mike Spofford of the team’s official site.

Alexander is dealing with a quad injury. He was limited on Wednesday and Thursday.

Alexander, cornerback Carrington Valentine and offensive lineman Jordan Morgan didn’t practice Friday, although quarterback Jordan Love was participating for the third consecutive practice.

The Packers will provide playing status designations on the final injury report later Friday. Alexander will likely be listed.

His potential matchup against Jefferson, who has a touchdown catch in all three games to start the season, would be one of the pivotal showdowns of Sunday’s NFC North battle at Lambeau Field. Entering Week 4, Jefferson has 14 catches on 21 targets for 273 yards and three scores. The fifth-year receiver is a three-time All-Pro and four-time 1,000-yard receiver.

Alexander, a two-time All-Pro, has a pair of interceptions in 2024, including his first-career pick-six. He missed 10 games due to injury last season.

If available Sunday, Alexander could shadow Jefferson, as he did for most of Week 1 vs. A.J. Brown. When not shadowing, Alexander plays the majority of his snaps at left cornerback.

Alexander and Jefferson didn’t face off last season.

Jefferson missed the Vikings’ Week 8 win over the Packers at Lambeau Field with a hamstring injury and then caught five passes on 10 targets for 59 yards in Green Bay’s 33-10 win at U.S. Bank Stadium. Alexander was suspended for Week 17.

In addition to Jefferson, the Vikings could return first-round pick Jordan Addison from an ankle injury on Sunday.

Valentine, a key backup at cornerback, is attempting to return from an ankle injury that kept him out last week. Corey Ballentine would be a likely starter opposite Eric Stokes if Alexander and Valentine can’t go.
