A packaging firm on the outskirts of Bristol has been acquired for an undisclosed sum by a larger group also based in the South West.
Surepack, in South Gloucestershire, has been bought by Wessex Packaging, an independent industrial supplier in the sector which has its national headquarters and distribution centre in Yeovil, Somerset.
Founded in 1999, Surepack provides commercial manufacturing, logistics and supply chain companies with packaging films, polythene products and pallet wrapping machines.
Following the deal, the business will continue to operate under the same brand from its base on Tower Lane in Warmley. Founder Chuen Lau and Tina Woodberry will also remain as the main contacts for the firm’s customers.
Family-run Wessex, established in 1975, said the group’s new addition would benefit from its wider product range and global supply chain.
Mr Lau said: “Becoming part of the Wessex Group is the right move for Surepack and significant opportunities lie ahead. They are innovative and knowledgeable packaging professionals who will help our customers even further.”
Mark Barter, managing director of Wessex Packaging, added: “Wessex and Surepack have a bright future together. Our shared pallet wrap and packaging expertise will benefit many UK businesses.”
