Pablo Mari reacts on Instagram, Maitland-Niles' cup success, Salah recall - Arsenal loan latest

It has been a mixed few days for several members of this season's Arsenal loan army following the restart of the top domestic leagues in England and across Europe after the World Cup break.

Of course, not all 24 players have been in action with Tyreece John-Jules and Alex Kirk on the road to recovery amid hamstring and ankle injuries respectively, whilst Hull City manager Liam Rosenior has revealed that Salah-Eddine is back with the Gunners and isn't close to making his debut for the Championship outfit.

"Salah is getting treatment at Arsenal so he's still quite a way off which is a real shame for him and for us," Rosenior said, as per Hull Live. "To be honest, we're looking at it week by week and I'm getting constant reports back from Arsenal, and for his career, the sooner he can get back the better."

Fellow Arsenal youngster Miguel Azeez was an unused substitute as UD Ibiza lost a second-round Copa del Rey tie against AD Ceuta, but there was joy for Marcelo Flores as he came off the bench to help Real Oviedo squeeze past Granada. After spending some time in Spain, Omar Rekik uploaded an image of him in action for Sparta Rotterdam to his Instagram Stories.

Mika Biereth was a substitute for RKC Waalwijk in their 3-0 friendly loss against Roma. As the second division in the Netherlands is currently on a break, striker Nikolaj Moller wasn't in action and in somewhat of a surprise, Brooke Norton-Cuffy was left out of the Rotherham United matchday squad against Stoke City on Boxing Day with it since being confirmed he was not injured or suffering with an illness.

With Ryan Alebiosu, Nuno Tavares, Nicolas Pepe and Folarin Balogun set to be in action before the end of the week, football.london takes a look at how the other 11 Gunners loanees have fared over the festive period.

Perhaps the best news is that Pablo Mari is back. Just two months, well 56 days to be precise, after he was stabbed during an attack in a Milan supermarket, the central defender returned to action for Monza last Thursday, helping them record a 2-1 win over Alexandre Lacazette's Lyon.

Taking to Instagram following his comeback, the Spaniard had a simple message that read: "56 days later, de vuelta (which translates to 'back')."

After helping Southampton beat Lincoln City to set up a Carabao Cup quarter-final tie against Manchester City next month, it was back down to earth for Ainsley Maitland-Niles as he was a second half substitute in the 3-1 loss at home to Brighton. Alex Runarsson was in the Alanyaspor side that overcame Kayserispor.

Charlie Patino played the full 90 minutes as Blackpool missed the chance to move out of the Championship relegation zone after drawing with Hull City, despite no mini-Arsenal reunion with Norton-Cuffy, Harry Clarke was a second half substitute as Stoke held Rotherham to a 2-2 draw and Auston Trusty had a night to forget with Birmingham City losing 3-0 to league leaders Burnley.

Mazeed Ogungbo is certainly enjoying a new lease of life at Crawley Town under new manager Matthew Etherington but he couldn't prevent the hosts from losing 2-1 against Sutton United. Elsewhere in League Two, Arthur Okonkwo was beaten twice as Crewe were beaten by Stockport.

Tim Akinola helped Chesterfield beat Scunthorpe in the National League and Tom Smith kept a clean sheet as Bromley recorded a 1-0 win away at Southend United. Not to be outdone, Ovie Ejeheri was unbeatable in the Chelmsford City goal as they overcame Braintree Town.
