Ozzy Osbourne and Slade's Noddy Holder join forces for new Christmas single

Music legends Ozzy Osbourne and Noddy Holder are among the stars who have joined forces for a new Christmas single.

The Black Sabbath legend and Slade's Noddy taking part in support of a cancer awareness project.

The song, This Christmas Time, was recorded at the Abbey Road Studios and is inspired by the letters World War One British soldiers wrote to their loved ones during holidays.

Ozzy, 74, starts the track with a moving introduction and Noddy concludes the song with a 'Merry Christmas' to the listeners.

This Christmas Time also features Duran Duran's original guitarist Andy Taylor - who was diagnosed with stage four metastatic prostate cancer.

Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason plays the drums while singer Casi Wyn leads on the vocals.

Other stars joining in on the charity track include Andrew Lloyd Webber's son Nick, who plays the piano.

Polly Wiltshire accompanies on viola, singer Reebz adds vocal harmonies and Matt Bond plays the guitar and produced the song.

EastEnders star Samantha Womack, who announced her breast cancer diagnosis earlier this year, also provides backing vocals on the track alongside Nina Lopes, an ambassador for the charity.

The charity track will be supporting The Cancer Awareness Trust Charity.

Noddy explained: "I was delighted to join the many artists adding their voice to the album from Evamore.

"I recorded a full narrative, telling the story of some incredibly brave World War 1 soldiers, to feature on the album in 2023 and a short Christmas message for This Christmas Time."

The founder and creator of the charity, Sir Chris Evans, was over the moon to work with the talented musicians.

He said to PA: “Cancer is going to impact one in two people on planet Earth, it’s already one in three now and it’s moving towards one in two, but it actually impacts everybody because you can have whole families that have no cancer, but all around the immediate family there is cancer impact.

"So a lot of these artists have either had cancer, or someone very close to them in their family, their partners, have had cancer.

“They’ve lost people, their closest friends, including particularly musicians and artists working together for decades, and suddenly one of them’s not there anymore."

This Christmas Time is available on The Cancer Platform website and will be available on streaming and download platforms from December 16.
