Oz Pearlman, an entertainer who was performing at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, has explained what trick he was doing for Melania Trump and Karoline Leavitt when gunfire broke out.
On Saturday, 25 April, a suspected gunman attempted to storm the event at the Washington Hilton hotel at 8:30pm, with shots fired before he was apprehended by the Secret Service.
Hundreds of reporters, gathered for the annual dinner, ducked for cover. The Independent White House correspondent Andrew Feinberg captured the moment panic gripped the ballroom at the Washington Hilton as agents tackled a gunman outside.
The suspected shooter has been identified as 31-year-old California man Cole Tomas Allen.
