Oxford Street rebound continues as Footasylum plans new flagship store

The revival of Oxford Street continues as Footasylum today announced the opening of a new flagship store on London’s busiest shopping street, hot on the heels of HMV’s return.

The trainers and streetwear retailer will open a new 20,000 sq ft, two-storey shop at 73-89 Oxford Street, close to Tottenham Court Roadstation.

The flagship store will open in the second half of this year.

The opening will form part of a wider expansion plan for Footasylum, which also recently announced plans to open a 6,000 sq ft store in the Atria Watford shopping centre and to expand its stores in Westfield Stratford and Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex.

Footasylum executive chair and CEO Barry Bown said he was excited for the company to take up space on a global shopping destination like Oxford Street.

“Oxford Street is Europe’s busiest and best-known shopping street and, with Footasylum performing well, we’re hugely excited to have a flagship store at the heart of such an iconic retail destination,” he said. “Our aim is for our unique and extensive branded streetwear offering to be widely available across the UK, and having bigger and better stores is a key part of that ambition.

“The new store will offer Oxford Street visitors an incredible shopping experience and take the Footasylum brand to the next level. We can’t wait to open our doors later this year.”
