A homeowners whose house featured in the Harry Potter movie franchise wishes they could use a spell to get rid of the deluge of fans who come to see the property.
The house in Berkshire, is the Dursley’s fictional home in the first film - Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. After that the street was recreated on a film stage due to logistical reasons, reports the Daily Mirror.
The owners bought the house back in 2016 and say they have had a constant stream of adults and children coming to see it ever since - some resplendent in Hogwarts’ black robes.
They told the Sun they have to cope with the fans turning up outside “all day, every day.”
The said: “We've had people in floods of tears. It's bizarre. The kids, you get it. But obviously the adults. They dress up sometimes in full gear and recreate scenes.
"People have travelled miles. From all over the world. People are sometimes really awkward. We are used to it, but not used to it in a way."
“Ten is the maximum we've had but people come in groups. People come in cars and it's all day and sometimes at night. The school holidays are the worst.”
Inside the house, Harry’s first bedroom in the cupboard under the stairs remains and has been untouched since filming in 2001.
Last month a rare sealed Hogwarts acceptance letter from the first movie went up for sale for £12,000.
It features in an iconic scene where the house is bombarded by owls dropping white envelopes down the chimney.
The majority of the envelopes that flew out of the fireplace did not have the red wax Hogwarts seal on the back, and that is what makes this item very rare.
It was donated to a charity by one of the film's producers for an auction in 2002, and it was bought by the current vendor.
The Potter fan has decided to punt the letter and sealed envelope with London-based Chiswick Auctions.
The seven-inch envelope is made with marbleised paper and addressed in green ink to 'Mr H Potter, the Cupboard under the Stairs, 4, Privet Drive, Little Whinging, Surrey'.
The red wax seal has the letter H for Hogwarts.
Inside it contains the untouched letter of introduction and list of requirements from Professor McGonagall.
It is being sold with a separate copy of the letter so the buyer can keep the seal intact.
