The owners of the fire ravaged Popinjay Hotel have publicy thanked all those involved in yesterday's horrific incident.
In a social media post on their hotel Facebook page they say an investigation into the cause of the fire will now take place.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) remianed at the scene in Carluke until just after 11pm on Thursday night, having battled the fire, which is understood to have started within the hotel's leisure suite, for hours throughout the day.
They returned to the scene on Friday morning for inspection.
Their swift actions have been praised by the hotel's owners who said: "Thanks to the great work of SFRS, Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service, building control, all staff and guests.
"All very efficient in handling the fire incident at the Popinjay this morning as we move into the damping down and investigatory part of the process.
"The Hotel, Leisure Club and Spa will be closed until the middle of next week. Further updates on the re-opening will be posted.
"Thanks to everyone for their best wishes and support on social media, recognised and much appreciated."
The fire wreacked havoc in the Lanarkshire town with dozens of emergency services racing to the scene just after 7am on Thursday morning.
Police closed off roads leading the area and staff and guests, who were all evacuated safely, made their way to an incident room at the nearby Gouldings Garden Centre.
Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse MSP, Christina McKelvie, said she was "devastated" by the news, praising SFRS for "responding quickly to deal with the incident".
She added: "I will be engaging with the SFRS for more details on the incident and the next steps from here."
A SFRS spokeswoman told us the force were called at 7.18am on Thursday (August 18) to reports of a building on fire at Lanark Road, Rosebank.
She added: "We mobilised 10 fire appliances, one height vehicle and specialist resources to the scene and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting a commercial property.
“There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
