Owen Hargreaves urges Jurgen Klopp to sign £72m Tottenham star amid Pep Guardiola claim

Owen Hargreaves has claimed that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp would love to have Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min at Anfield.

The South Korean international has enjoyed one of his finest seasons to date, netting 17 goals in the Premier League this term - numbers that read even more impressive when you consider that none of them are from the penalty spot. Son, who is currently valued at £72million by Transfermarkt, has also provided a further seven assists in the league so far this campaign and former Manchester United midfielder Hargreaves has hailed the former Bayer Leverkusen star, claiming that the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City would love to have him in their ranks.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, the former England international said: “I think Pep (Guardiola) takes him and puts him into the starting XI. Man(chester) United would be desperate for him.

“I think Klopp would absolutely adore him. The thing is, he scores goals and is a good lad.

“All of those managers want a good teammate. His nickname is 'Sonny' because all he does is smile.

"Everybody wants a guy like that. And Son is an unbelievable finisher.”

Despite Hargreaves indicating that the Premier League's top two clubs would be keen to sign Son, it appears unlikely that the clinical winger will leave Spurs given he penned a new long-term contract in N17 just last summer. Speaking after signing his new deal, the 29-year-old said: "It was already a big honour to play here for six years, the club have showed me massive, massive respect and obviously I'm very happy to be here.

"It's like home, especially with the fans, the players, the staff. There was no decision.

"It was easy. I'm so happy to be here and will be so glad to see the fans again soon."
