More than 700 Easter eggs were handed out to kids in the community during the Easter weekend thanks to a generous organisation.
The Star Project had an eggs-tremely busy Easter weekend with no fewer than five Easter egg hunts.
And on Saturday, the community group lent their support to the Shortroods Community Action group at St James’s and Mossvale Primary Schools.
Local families turned out in the sunshine to take part in egg hunts, drawing competitions, Easter bonnet making as well as Easter games and activities.

Manager at The Star Project, Heather Kay was delighted with the collaboration. She said: “The ladies at the action group came up with the idea of the event and we were delighted to support them physically and financially with the event that took place in the playground.
“There was a great variety of fun activities and games for all the local kids to really ensure there was something for everyone.
“We handed out 400 Easter eggs on Saturday and we’d like to say a huge thanks to the always amazing Sharon at Morrisons, Anchor Mills and the inspirational Renfrewshire Toy Bank for providing a very last minute top up of eggs for the Shortroods event.
“Our entire Easter programme has been possible because of the wonderful Clyde Cash for Kids who have funded our holiday activities for years.
“But the ladies, Ann Taggart, Pauline Simpson, Jean McAdam, Lisa McDonald and Lesley McCreadie, at the Shortroods Community Action Group should be really proud of what they planned, to do something as great in the local community is truly heart-warming and we will continue to support their events.”
Earlier this year, the Star Project, which is based in the town’s Wallace Street, was given £198,500 of funding to support its efforts over the next three years.
The organisation has been supporting people in Shortroods and beyond for 23 years, and in the last five years alone has supported more than 22,000 people with issues such as mental health support, food insecurity and improving well-being.
On Sunday, eggs left over from the event were donated to Springbank Road Sheltered Housing.
Heather added: “We had some eggs left over so we donated them to the elderly residents within the sheltered housing complex to ensure even more Easter cheer was spread throughout the community.”
And Shortroods Community Action Group were grateful for The Star Project’s support, taking to Facebook the group posted: “The volunteers of the Shortroods Community Action Group hope those who attended the Easter event had an amazing day and would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along and helped us enjoy the day. Also a massive thank you to the amazing Star Project and the fantastic Star staff who helped secure funding and volunteered their time!
“We really are so blessed to have such a fab organisation on our doorstep, always willing and ready to step in and help out.”
