Over 42,000 calls made to revenge porn helpline with 250,000 vile images removed

Victims of revenge porn have contacted an official government helpline 42,000 times since 2015.

And figures reveal it led to more than 250,000 vile images being removed from websites.

Domestic abuse survivor Natasha Saunders, 33, of Shropshire, said she was “absolutely gobsmacked” at the scale of the problem of stolen X-rated snaps being uploaded.

She added: “It’s unrelenting.” A man is serving 12 years for rape plus threats to release intimate images during and after their relationship.

Kate Isaacs, from campaign group Not Your Porn, said: “It’s horrifying. I hope the figures shake up the Government.”

Sophie Mortimer, from the Revenge Porn Helpline, said: “We’ve seen year-on-year rises in people affected.”

The Home Office said: “This Government is committed to tackling this sickening crime.”
