As Hurricane Helene makes its way through the Gulf of Mexico, more than 200,000 customers in Florida are currently without power, according to PowerOutage.US. The latest data shows that over 225,000 homes and businesses have been affected by power outages as of 5:30 p.m. ET.
The majority of the outages are concentrated in southwest Florida, where reports of tropical storm-force wind gusts have been documented. With the storm's expansive wind field spreading across the Southeast, power outages are expected to increase throughout Thursday and into Friday.
