The Creeslough Community Support Fund, set up to help with the families and friends of the victims of last Fridays tragedy in the Donegal village.
Ten people lost their lives when an explosion destroyed a building and petrol station last Friday afternoon.
The funerals of Robert Garwe and Shauna Flanagan Garwe which took place on Saturday morning were the last of the victims to be buried.
At the beginning of this week, the Irish Red Cross set up the Creeslough Community Support Fund - with the fund passing the €1,000,000 mark on Saturday, just five days after it was launched.
A statement from the Red Cross said: "Thanks to the amazing heartfelt support of the Irish people and many companies the Creeslough Community Support Fund is now at €1,022,000 which was reached in five days.
"The fund which was set up by the Irish Red Cross is being supported by An Post and Applegreen and many other corporate companies have also joined further to thousands of Irish people who have donated online and in many post offices and shops around the country."
An Post will accept donations for the Creeslough Community Support Fund at all of its 920 Post Offices nationwide. Donations can be made by cash or debit card and there will be no fee payable for making donations.
Applegreen, which has almost 200 locations in Ireland, will be promoting online donations to the Creeslough Community Support Fund at all of its outlets and has also made an initial donation of €50,000 to the fund. Applegreen will also promote the fund on its website and across its social media channels.
Spokesperson Charlie Lamson said: "The Irish public and the business world here have been just incredible with their thoughtfulness for the Creeslough community. At this stage our Irish Red Cross Donegal area volunteers are in touch with people in the Creeslough locality and they are in the process of identifying a process for the funding distribution which is appropriate and informed by the local community.”
