A major UK rewilding project is set to release more than 15 million juvenile oysters into the North Sea, marking one of the largest marine restoration efforts in British waters.
The initiative, focused on Orkney, aims to rebuild historic oyster beds that once formed a vital part of the UK’s coastal ecosystem — supporting marine life, improving water quality, and contributing to carbon capture.
