Since hostilities erupted between Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah and Israel on October 8 last year, Lebanon has witnessed a devastating toll on its population. According to a report released by Lebanon’s Disaster Risk Management Unit, at least 1,540 people have lost their lives, while 5,410 others have been wounded.
The report highlighted that in the past 24 hours alone, 60 individuals have been killed and 81 others have been injured. It is important to note that the figures in the report did not differentiate between militants and civilians, underscoring the widespread impact of the conflict.
The ongoing clashes between Israel and Hezbollah have resulted in a continuous exchange of deadly cross-border fire, prompting tens of thousands of civilians on both sides of the Israel-Lebanon border to flee their homes in search of safety. The violence has escalated significantly in recent days, marked by a series of Israeli surprise attacks and strikes that have further intensified the crisis.
