OUTLANDER star Sam Heughan displayed his support for independence at this year’s gala for the My Peak Challenge initiative.
The actor and philanthropist, who has voiced his support for Scotland’s independence in the past, arrived at the Edinburgh event with a Yes badge pinned to the fringes of his kilt.
Heughan is a founder of the My Peak Challenge campaign, which promotes health and personal growth and has raised more than $6 million for a variety of causes, including hunger relief, blood cancer research, end-of-life care and environmental protection.
The 2022 MPC Gala was also attended by SNP MSP and Cabinet Secretary for the Constitution, External Affairs and Culture Angus Robertson, who spoke in support of Heughan’s efforts following the festivities.
Robertson wrote on Twitter: “Sam Heughan is an outstanding ambassador for Scotland, Scottish screen and charity fundraising. Great to be at @MyPeakChallenge gala in support of @bloodcancer_uk #MPC2022GALA #MPC #SamHeughan”.
Heughan responded: “Angus! Thank you for coming along to the Gala and representing Scotland so well. Loved our conversation and we must share a dram again soon!”

Blood Cancer UK also tweeted their appreciation, saying: “Delighted to be at the #MPC2022GALA this evening in Edinburgh, celebrating all the amazing @MyPeakChallenge community.
“Thank you @samheughan and @MyPeakChallenge for your continued support of Blood Cancer UK”.
Heughan confirmed his support for Scottish independence in 2021, explaining that his work on Outlander had helped give him a new perspective on his home country.
Heughan has also rejected the idea that independence is in any way “anti-British”, saying: “On the whole thing about independence and stuff, it’s not about being anti-British at all.
"I’m very proud to be British, but I’m also extremely proud to be Scottish. It’s such a great wee country and has a great opportunity. I’d love to see it work and to remain in Europe.
"It’s how we’re all going to survive ... This world is going to survive, if we work together."
