Outlander actor Tim Downie has signed onto an exciting Amazon Prime series starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen.
Tim, 44, is known for his recurring role as Governor Tryon in Outlander alongside Sam Heughan but will be joining the second season of Good Omens, which is currently filming in Scotland.
The series is based on the best-selling book by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchet, and sees David Tennant and Michael Sheen reprising their roles as Crowley and Aziraphale.
The English actor is best known for his role in the best-selling Outlander franchise based on the books by Diana Gabaldon.
His character was first introduced in the fifth season, and is based on the real royal governor of North Carolina, and frequently clashes with Highlander Jamie Fraser.
Although he’s not expected to reprise the role in Outlander’s upcoming sixth instalment, he’ll be back on screens later this year.
He’ll be joining film and TV stars David and Michael in an undisclosed role for the recently announced follow-up to 2019’s hit small-screen adaptation of Good Omens.
One half of the original book’s writing team, Neil Gaiman, is on board to provide supplementary material for a brand new adventure for the angel and devil odd couple.
Unfortunately, A-listers Benedict Cumberbatch and Frances McDormand will not be returning for season two.
Thankfully, there are still more names left to be announced for the new instalment, according to the latest update from Deadline.
The new series will kick off a thrilling new adventure for Crowley and Aziraphale, who have just settled down in Soho after saving humanity from the apocalypse.
When a strange messenger arrives with an intriguing mystery, the rare book-dealer and daredevil demon are left with no choice but to embark on yet another world-saving quest.
In a new statement, co-showrunner Neil said: “We are so thrilled that we were able to get so many fabulous actors to return to the Good Omens family.
“Some of them are reprising roles, some of them are playing completely new characters. And we are just as thrilled by the people coming to the Good Omens team for the first time.
“We have an ensemble cast of astonishing talent, and seeing what they’re giving us is a daily treat. I can’t wait until the rest of the world gets that treat, too.”
Director Douglas Mackinnon added: “We are happily working our way through filming Good Omens 2 in Scotland and these new cast arrivals will only increase the pleasure of it all.
“The remarkable Scottish crew are loving making the magic that is Good Omens and we can’t wait to share our stories with the world.”
Filming for season two is underway in Scotland and a rumoured 2022 release date is hoped to be announced in due course.
Good Omens season 1 is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
Outlander season 6 premieres Sunday, March 6 on Starz in the US and Starzplay in the UK.
