Outlander's Sam Heughan boosts earnings as his business netted a £2.5m profit

Outlander actor Sam Heughan is set to be on a high this week as the the value of his company was boosted to more than £2.5million following the news he landed a leading role in a brand new Channel 4 drama.

The Scots actor is best known for playing Jamie Fraser in the hit Starz show and it's this which has helped him gather fans from all across the globe.

When he's not playing the 18th century character, he's extremely busy with other projects, including his business. And latest accounts filed at Companies house for his firm, Cairn Mor Creative, show that it had total assets of over £2.6million for 2022.

After paying off creditors, the company reported shareholder funds of £2,542,819, which is a rise of more than £138,000 on the previous year. And in 2016, it was worth just £87,625, writes the Scottish Daily Express.

The company was set up in April 2015, not long after Sam finished the first season of Outlander with the nature of it being listed as "performing arts".

This week it was also revealed that the 42-year-old would be playing a leading role in a new Channel 4 show which has been tentatively titled The Couple Next Door. The role is his first to be announced since Outlander bosses confirmed that the show would be coming to an end following its eighth season.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Sam said: "A happy duck birthday to Mr @driesvos and my first day on set!! Excited to be working on new drama “The Couple Next Door” which will be at home on @starz @channel4 @eagleeyedrama "
