Outlander fans were delighted after being treated to another flashback surrounding the events of the Battle of Culloden.
The fifth episode of season six, 'Give Me Liberty', saw Jamie ( Sam Heughan ), and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) introduced to one of the most interesting characters from Scottish history, as well as the return of two fan favourites.
The episode saw focus shift away from Fraser's Ridge, and follow everyone's favourite couple as they headed to Wilmington to visit Aunt Jocasta and hear from Flora MacDonald.
To kick off the episode, audiences witness the moment Bonnie Prince Charlie was granted safe passage to the Isle of Skye, Scotland but he would not have made this journey without the help of Flora.
Just like the events in A Breath of Snow and Ashes, Jamie meets Flora at a BBQ, hosted by his Aunt Jocasta at her River Run plantation as their meeting comes almost 30 years after she helped the Prince flee to Skye.
Viewers were delighted to see Charles Stuart's escape from Government troops from the Outer Hebrides to Skye and then on to France finally played out on screen.
The now-famous tale of how Flora MacDonald dressed him as one of her handmaidens to help him avoid detection was shown in a flashback featuring returning actor Andrew Gower.
Viewers took to social media to share their buzz around the latest episode.
One wrote: "I can't wait for next week... especially knowing what is coming (as a book reader). This episode was so great, but I missed Fergus and Ian."
"I like the opening to tonight's ep. A fun historical fact: Yes Flora MacDonald was a real lady who is famous for helping Bonnie Prince Charlie escape o'er the sea to Skye. #Outlander," said another.
A third wrote: "Jamie had a wee crush on Flora Macdonald. One of my fav parts of this story in the book was when Claire says she also has all her teeth on remark of Flora’s smile. #Blacklanderz #Outlander "
"Loved this musical change and Flora’s appearance. She was as Scot as Jenny and Jocasta. Perfect. The ‘Emergent Gentleman’s Club’ was a hoot, more like a smoke in among the ladies," penned another.
Another fan tweeted: "I loved this episode, so much from the book and @shaunamacd0nald was amazing as Flora MacDonald. @jesssreynolds_ is great portraying the ever creepy Malva, she really gives me the chills"
