Outgoing Rangers star Scott Arfield steals show at best pal's wedding with live performance

An outgoing Rangers star has become an online hit after an unlikely performance at his best friend's wedding.

Scott Arfield was filmed singing a song he had written himself and playing guitar at the ceremony. A video of the performance, which garnered a lot of laughs from onlooking guests, was uploaded by Scottish music duo Saint Phnx. The caption explained that the midfielder was the best man at the wedding and his performance was the 'best part' of the day.

Michael Beale is undergoing a major revamp at Ibrox this summer and Arfield was one of five big name players not handed a new contract as he seeks a new challenge. He has already stated a desire to play until he is 40, but the 34-year-old clearly still has a big place in the Ibrox fan's hearts judging by the comments.

While another added: "Is there no end to his talents."

One comment read: "I mean wow. anything this man can’t do".

Michael Beale is undergoing a major revamp at Ibrox this summer and Arfield was one of five big name players not handed a new contract as he seeks a new challenge. His next adventure is yet to be announced with Beale admitting the decision over his future particularly pulled at the heartstrings.

He explained last month: "I spoke last week. Allan [McGregor] it is a natural thing with his age and Scott Arfield pulled on the heart strings as I felt he could still have a part to play but when you sit and talk about what Scott needs and what Rangers need, we couldn't meet in the right place. It ended amicably.

"In terms of Fil [Filip Helander] he's been injured a long time.

"And in terms of Ryan [Kent] and Alfredo [Morelos] I felt they both needed a change and I think they both agreed as well. I don't know where either player is planning to go. I don't think it is sorted right now in the conversations I have had, but they left with a big hug and out the front door and that was important to me."
