There is sadness in Nottingham after a much-loved group of nuns have been forced out of their Bulwell home, and will leave the city altogether. It comes as The Poor Clare Sisters failed to raise enough money to replace their dilapidated premises, located next to Our Lady's Church on Brooklyn Road.
And people in the city have taken to social media to share their regret. Facebook users have voiced their thoughts and memories as Nottingham's only group of 'enclosed' nuns will now leave the city after failing to raise funds for a new monastery.
Kirsti Griffiths said: "This is actually so sad. I would always see one nun in particular when on maternity leave and taking my little one for walks in the day." Charlotte O'Farrell added: "It is such a shame we could not find a way to keep them in Nottingham.
