Sam Fender brightened up the morning of taxi staff working the Bank Holiday Monday shift when he stopped off to collect his breakfast from a Whitley Bay takeaway.
The North Shields singer made a trip to the popular brunch spot, Pablo Eggsgobao, to pick up his egg-filled bao bun on August 29 to the delight of staff and customers. The Station Road business was quick to hail Sam, 28, as a "local hero" following his visit and told Chronicle Live it was pleased to see the Brit Award winner was choosing to support local businesses.
A Pablo Eggsgobao spokesman said: "It’s great to have a local hero visit us and we hope he enjoyed his breakfast."
While he waited for his order, the 'Seventeen Going Under' singer was also spotted enjoying a coffee and chatting to staff from the Nearby Eastcoast Taxis, which has its offices close to the takeaway. The taxi firm shared snaps of Sam speaking to a new employee at the firm, as they praised the Geordie for remaining "down-to-earth" following his success.
Steven Pippin, marketing manager at Nearby Eastcoast Taxis, said: "Sam's a really great down-to-earth guy who we've picked up on a number of occasions and a true ambassador for music in the North East. It is great to see him supporting local businesses!"
Sam's trip to Whitley Bay comes fresh off the back of his tour of America and a busy summer of gigs that saw him wow crowds at his Glastonbury debut and perform a charity show at the 02 City Hall in Newcastle in aid of the homeless.
