Our Liverpool: update into ECHO parking fines probe

Hello and Good Morning.

Hopefully Monday hasn't hit you too hard already. Personally I was up at 5am to begin a new role within the ECHO after serving as a reporter for Wirral for around a year now.

With this new role I get almost complete ownership of Our Liverpool - the ECHO's twice-daily briefing on the news stories that really matter. It's very exciting and I've got a lot of ideas I want to explore to really make it something great for our readers.

I don't want this to be a one-way conversation. If you've got any questions, ideas, or anything whatsoever - please do get in touch at remy.greasley@reachplc.com, drop me a comment or message me on Twitter at @remygreasley.

But for now we will start with an update into the ECHO's council parking fines probe.

Lawyers paid for by Labour Party

The Labour Party, headed by Sir Keir Starmer, paid for lawyers representing councillors named in the ECHO's investigation into an "unacceptable culture" at Liverpool Council. 14 current or former councillors in total were named in the investigation headed by political editor Liam Thorp, with eight being represented by lawyers paid for by the party.

A spokesperson for the party said: "There has never been any attempt by councillors to prevent the disclosure of the parking ticket information."

Dad's a 'grass' for shaming bad parkers

A young dad is called a "grass" and a "k******d" for his Twitter Account that "names and shames" the city's bad parkers. Bad Parking Liverpool was set up in 2016, and Abigail Nicholson spoke to the dad behind the account about the abuse he receives for "naming and shaming" the illegal and inconsiderate parkers.

Woman's 16 years of agony that feels like 'broken glass' inside her

A woman has spoken about the intense pain she has experienced since she was 12. Becci Morris was told by doctors she had a "low pain threshold" but is now awaiting surgery for a condition that has her fainting, vomiting and sometimes in a wheelchair.

Becci's story is not a unique one unfortunately, with one in 10 women suffering with the same condition as her.
