Our Liverpool: 'Turkey teeth' warning, 12 year old budding chef's Asda win and Red Brick's new market

Hello and welcome to your Tuesday morning instalment of the ECHO's new 'Our Liverpool' feature.

In this twice daily round-up, we'll be showcasing some of the best ECHO content, as well as many of the major talking points on Merseyside. In a bid to beat the misery that often sticks around throughout January, we'll also share some more light-hearted snippets. I'm Jess, a writer on the What's On team with a slight obsession with books, fashion, film, and dogs.

If that doesn't float your boat, then don't worry as I'll be joined by a rotating team of writers to ensure you're in the know on all the Merseyside moments that have grabbed our attention.

Tuesday is, in my opinion, the worst day of the week. It's such a "nowhere" day - it's not manic Monday, which you've likely mentally prepared for, it's not the middle, and it's not the downward slide to the blissful weekend. It just delays all the best bits of the week.

Still, there's plenty of action in Merseyside to help keep the Tuesday blues at bay. If there's anything you want us to shout about this week, then please do let us know (*cough* kindly *cough*) in the comments section.

'Turkey teeth' warning

The quest for a whiter, brighter and straighter smile is one many people have faced - us Brits aren't exactly renowned for our pearly whites - but one couple have issued a stark warning after venturing to Turkey for a smile makeover.

Jade Tushingham, 32, and her partner Kelly Tushingham, 30, were left unable to eat or drink, after they combined their beach holiday with an overhaul of their smiles. The pair were attracted to the Antalya dentist because of the cheaper dental prices.

Now, four months on since the visit, Jade and Kelly have been left in pain and fear they'll need to fly back for further treatment as no dentist in the UK will touch them. You can read the full story here.

A 12-year-old budding chef impresses at Asda

Doing the "big shop" can be an arduous task, but one mum found an ingenious way to tackle it.

Kelly Miller Richards said her son, Vinnie, is a budding young chef. She set him the challenge of buying the ingredients for, and making, five evening meals for the family. He had a budget of £50 to spend at Asda, but came back with quite a bit of change.

Visiting the new Red Brick Market for the very first time

I visited the impressive new Red Brick Market for the very first time last week, and penned my thoughts on exactly why it's well worth seeking out.

In January of this year, Red Brick Market relocated to a new address, a stone's throw away from its original home at Cains Brewery. After transforming a derelict, unused warehouse into a melting pot for the weird and the wonderful, it hopes to do the same on a much bigger scale.

It's absolutely jam-packed with all manner of weird and wonderful items, from clothing and vinyl records, to books, furniture and more. You can read the full article here.

And finally... rush hour never looked so good!

Monday morning rush hour (Andrew Teebay Liverpool Echo)

ECHO photographer Andy Teebay captured this beautiful image of the Monday morning sunrise over Scotland Road. The vivid bursts of colour across the sky almost make Monday morning traffic bearable, eh?
